discipleship
 (United States)

Author: Commoner

The best experience of being discipled was within the last year.  My pastor spoke into my life through a series of messages based on the book, The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren.  He posed a question.  What is your dream?  What talent has God deposited into your life? Then he opened the door by stating, " tell me about your dream."  We as a church will help you achieve what God has placed on your heart to do.  I took that opportunity and discovered that God gave me a talent to write childrens books. A year later I am in the final phases of getting it published.  Its title is "He Called, I Answered" My pastor has been a pillar of support throughout the whole process.  He allowed me the priveledge of his valuable time to encourage me to do what God has called me to do.  He never gave up on me and he is owed a very big debt of gratitude of which I could'nt possibly repay.   Time is a valuable asset to be given and wisely recieved.

Commoner it is a delight to hear your reflections on how the Lord has moved in your life and the journey he has taken you on. I always enjoy reading about others stories.

Just wanted to say that if you are interested in the topic of discipleship there is a great discussion going on in the Spiritual Direction forum on this site that I just read talking about the nature of discipleship.
